The Bonehunters falls squarely into the former category, not really giving insight into an overall theme of this book. I thought that just in several sentences of this book I had more emotions and vivid pictures in my mind than I have had in some series!!!

I have read a lot of books this month and last and this was by far the longest which meant it felt a lot longer and I noticed the drawn out parts a lot more in comparison to my smaller books.

Firstly, I have to say that in The Bonehunters, Erikson started to reveal a larger picture of the intricate tapestry that he has so masterfully woven Kalazan Book of the Fallen really hit its stride coming into its sixth chapter of this massive tale.


The Bonehunters

Up til this point, Memories of Ice was the ghe time that we’ve had more than a few characters come back. I think I lost interest a little in the middle of this book.

The two, together, ah, most terribler. I think that is what really makes Erikson brilliant.

So, I came to grips with that fact a long time ago. We finally see convergence of different worlds. Mass Market Paperbackpages. One last rebel force remains, holed up in the city of Y’Ghatan and under the fanatical command of Leoman of the Flails.

What always surprises me with Erikson is how few there are of these people. An unnamed woman enters Ehrlitan via the east gate. Now alone, Curdle asks Telorast if they are going to stay with Apsalar, to which Telorast reponds that Edgewalker will be unhappy with them if they don’t.

There’s still stuff unresolved there. Or staying bonehunter for long? T’Lan Imass with emotions is at least as unnerving as would Icarium be with memories. It is a testament to just how good Erikson’s storytelling and writing is, that I not only found a way to navigate through the countless pov’s, I actually loved every minute of it.

Easier being solely relative to its predecessors.

And I haven’t told you of Apsalar, my poor poor Apsalar. We learn more about dragons and their relationship to the warrens, there will be things unleashed that are better off left chained and buried, and more.

Are we as mortals just dictating our gods with our own expectations.
